I can't stop thinking that gothic rock is some kind of "emo rock". I, for one, listen to black metal and heavy metal, but not even black metal has the sad tone of Evanescence. By God! If any kind of music makes you want to cut your wrist, then it's EMO! I mean, how many of you listen to Tokyo Hotel too?

Gothic rock may sound like it's dark and linked to the underworld, but it's not. It's just a pale description of death.

What drives Evanescence to sing gothic? What do they have to say about death, darkness and stuff like that? In fact, what do they even know about it?

Wearing a lot og make-up make you link with the dark side of things or what? Needless to say, emo kids wear the same make-up... LOOOOOOOL!

I agree with what you said before and i think that the only reason Evanescense is my favourite group is only because this group can make me relax and join their 'strange world' (in a way) although it isn't too strange for me.

I for one listen to Tokio Hotel too, and actually completely disagree that Amy Lee by wearing the make up that she wears or the clothes that she wears can consider herself or the band to be a gothic band. Do you really know what gothic is? Do you know what kind of people are goths? It has nothing to do with the music. Actually goths are an ancient tribe whose origins come from France but they`ve spread later on in Germany, England and so on. My point is that the music that Evanescence creates and Amy sings is a modern version of the real goth music. But the reason why many people love their music is the beautiful poetry, poetry with music. I`m a poet, i should know. That`s why they`re my all time favorite band too. And it doesn`t make me cut my wrists, hang myself or throw myself of the window... my soul rests when i listen to Evanescence.

Well, I don't think Evanescence is Gothic, at all. I believe the reasons that drives their music are the things that they had lived, in fallen their music sound very sad and like if their caught in a box, but in The Open door, they grew up and now they talk about something else, like anger, sadness, even happines, they realized that a good song doesn't always have to be about sadness and stuff like that, they took a step outsite. And it doesn't make me feel sad or something like that... there are bands a that always talk about how sh*ty life can be, and they make a big deal out of nothing... besides Amy is a really songs writter... And a really good piano player... I'm always playing their songs... And I like it...
