Topic: SPOILERS! what being a "God" meant to him
this topic is for manga readers only.i found this interesting topic which is based on the code "the real one isnt with them".it explains why nagato created pein.

Ok well with the latest chapter we learn that the code is "the real one isn't with them" Which many are taking as conformation of what they had already believed that there is someone behind the "God" known as Pein. The most likely candidate would be Nagato obviously for the fact that both he and Pein possess the Rinnengan. Which leads to question why would Nagato even need to create Pein if the Rinnengan allowed him to kill a Chuunin whilst being a child who lacked training as a shinobi. Not only that, but it allowed him to use every element and learn every jutsu Jiraiya attempted to teach him.

Some theorize that his real body may have become physically weak, but I believe his body is just fine it's Nagato's physcological and emotional state that are weak. As an orphan of war his emotional state was already one which may be considered less than ideal for a shinobi. He was seen many times crying, even when killing an enemy shinobi in self defense. He thought killing was wrong and that there had to be another way. He was told being hurt bred hatred, hatred bred guilt, and guilt bred empathy which is what makes us humans.

Nagato was conflicted because he apparently detested violence, but at the same wanted nothing more than to protect his friends no matter what kind of "pain' he had to go through.

When jiraiya encounters Pein he states that Yahiko has been dead for quite some time. I believe Yahiko's death was the breaking point for the emotionally fragile Nagato. It's even possible that Nagato had the power to save Yahiko, but failed to act and was plagued by guilt and uncertainty. Being a human is complicated which can lead to self doubt and second guessing yourself. So I believe Nagato rectified this by creating a "God".

Being "God" makes everything simple, there is no right or wrong, your actions and beliefs are absolute and unfallable. Pein can do things that Nagato cannot bring himself to do. Things that if a human were to do would be considered cold-blooded atrocities, but when Pein does is considered an act of "God".

Nagato is alive, and he is the one behind Pein, he is physically fine, but not physcologically. There are things he wants accomplished, but lacks the stomach it takes to get done. That is where Pein comes in, Pein feels no guilt, which means he feels no empathy, which means he isn't human. He is more than a human he is a God!

Nice, one Hakimy. Damn you hit the nail on its head with the hammer further than myself.
Reading what you said, strongly reminds me of a character from Yu Yu Hakusho. The former spirit detective named Shinobu Sensui *Read the Yu Yu Hakusho manga if you don't know who I am talking about*.
May be kishimoto would have a character in his manga that is almost like Yoshihiro Togashi's character in his manga. So for me that theory for me is dismissed for legal purposes.

But other than that it sounds quite logical about Nagato created Pein to keep him self pure (or sane) from the evil things he has done. The Six Paths of Pain to me is just puppets controlled by the real Rinnegan user, Nagato and that he is ten times as powerful and has the ability of all the pein bodies. When he meets a strong fighter he defeats them and then transfer a the Rinnegan *someway, but I dont know how, this strongly goes against the law of conservation* to them and then control their movements and step in if all his bodies are destroyed to revive them and summon more of them if necessary.

I guess Pain and the control of each bother has some forbidden techniques involved, it wouldn't be the first time we saw someone being buffed/powered by forbidden techniques of some old character we might know. === Original Message === Nice, one Hakimy. again :P stop thinking like me hakimy ! LMAO.

Yep I bealive that yahikos death was a [pivotal point in the birth of pein. Torm between two major aspects of his life, creating a stronger alter ego might have been his oly 'logical' way out.

Proof to this is Yahikos body which acts as the main body of Pein at times, the other 5 coming in only in battle situations :P

Hes a complex character and note when the jiraya arch was up and running konan sais "You have no idea what we been through" < < this might be a hint that things werent all peaches and cream for the 3 orphans.

But as these things go, Kishi will develop him more, on that we can be sure of
