actually no one knows why.we had alot of theories about this and the best one was MS come from emotions shock or something to do with emotions.other than that no one knows the real reason.we should wait though kishi might never reveal the reason of this ;)

Actually there is more than a way to recieve mangekyou sharingan, and even sasuke knows this but never asked kakashi he was looking to get stronger not really focusing on the sharingan, i believe kishi will reveal this when kakashi finally confronts sasuke, it's suspense men suspense

you have to kill your best friend to obtain the new level sharingan that he has now but Kakashi is not an Uchiha in the first place but then again kakashi didnt kill him. maybe he thinks that its his fault or blamin himself for his death. i guess killin ur best friend thing kinda worked when obito gave him his eye to kakashi as a gift for when he was promoted to chuunin. maybe we will find out later on in the series.

There is more the one way to get Mangekyou, sasuke will be a living proof of it.

Kakashi simple is a 'genius' as neji and Itachi, So i guess he got his way around the "killing your best friend" way.
